Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a safe, effective and affordable way of brightening your smile and improving your appearance.

Here at Highgate Dental we are proud to offer Whitewash Laboratories whitening products.

What Is the Cost?

£250 (for practice plan members) which includes your custom made whitening trays, whitening kit which contains 4 syringes of whitening gel, tray container, whitening toothpaste and carrycase.

What is involved?

You will require 2 appointments one week apart. The first appointment is to take impressions of your teeth so that the trays can be custom made to fit you perfectly. The second appointment will involve the trays being fitted and collection of your whitening kit with full instructions on how and when to use it. We will ask you to come back for a short review a month or so after to see how you are getting on.

How does tooth whitening work?

Tooth whitening is a chemical process using peroxide to break down the molecules that cause discolouration of the teeth. This process causes the teeth to lighten without altering the structure of the tooth. Enamel, dentine, fillings, crowns or veneers are not affected or harmed by the peroxide.  Fillings, crowns and veneers will not be affected by the gel and no colour change will take place and may need replacing after whitening treatment to ensure a good colour match.

How long does tooth whitening last?

Depending on your nutrition and lifestyle habits, tooth whitening may need to be topped up periodically. This is perfectly safe. We always keep the whitening gels in stock for you to purchase when required. Our top up syringes are priced at £22.50 each and are available at reception.

Will tooth whitening cause tooth sensitivity?

Teeth can become sensitive during treatment but this wears off when treatment is complete. However, Whitewash Laboratories formula contain desensitising agents to help combat sensitivity.

Do you offer any alternatives?

Alternatively  for £75 we offer single use tooth whitening strips, which do not require moulds of your teeth to be made and generally give 1-2 shades lighter with the effects lasting around a year.  These are applied to the teeth and worn for one hour each day for 14 days.
